Former Great British Menu winner and television regular, chef Shaun Rankin is leaving Ormer Restaurant. After five years as chef proprietor of the Michelin starred Jersey restaurant, Ormer announced in a statement yesterday that they: “…have removed Shaun Rankin from the Board and from all of its subsidiaries, terminating their commercial relationship with him.”
Ormer opened in 2013, and it was awarded a Michelin star just four months later. The restaurant has confirmed that head chef Lee Smith and the existing team will continue to run Ormer Jersey. It’s sister restaurant, situated in Flemings Mayfair, have also made a statement with regards to their partnership with Shaun.
General Manager, Henrik Muehle told The Times: “We have a separate agreement regarding Shaun Rankin’s consultancy service for Ormer Mayfair and it is our full intention to continue working with him.”
Shaun Rankin moved to Jersey in 1994, where he worked at Longueville Manor for eight years, before moving to Bohemia. In the same article, he was quoted to have said: ““I am extremely sad that after more than 20 years in Jersey I will be leaving this wonderful island.”
