Matt Healy's new restaurant to open next month

Yorkshire-born chef Matt Healy, runner-up in BBC’s MasterChef: The Professionals, has announced that his new Leeds restaurant will open on Friday 4 May 2018 – it will be called ‘Matt Healy at The Foundry’.

Healy was last month revealed as the successful bidder for the city’s renowned Foundry restaurant, which has been a Leeds dining institution since 2005.
Following a successful purchase facilitated by Thomas Jackson, Senior Associate at Walker Morris, a refresh of the Grade II listed building has started with the interior design being spearheaded by Telegraph Contract Furniture.
The aesthetic will remain true to The Foundry’s past, while bringing it up to date with a modern finish. A bold new creative identity has been imagined by Aire Design under the theme ‘Food you can swear by’, and the front-of-house team will be led by Iain Silver.
Owner and Head Chef Matt Healy said: “We’re so excited to give people a peek of what’s to come. The team has been hard at work creating an identity that really reflects what we’re offering: good, honest food.
“We’re creating a refined menu of incredible dishes, but I’m a typical Yorkshire lad at heart and those who know me know my choice of language in the kitchen can be a little bit rough around the edges. So, the tongue-in-cheek ‘food to swear by’ messaging we’re using is the perfect nod to what the restaurant will offer.
“We’ll be opening to the public from 4 May, in perfect time to make the most of our outdoor terrace over the summer months. We can’t wait to introduce Leeds to a new chapter of the iconic venue that is The Foundry.”
The Foundry has now closed for a complete overhaul, reopening to the public on Friday 4 May as Matt Healy at The Foundry.
