Matthew & Jennifer Price to open The Town House Restaurant with Rooms in West Sussex

Matthew Price, the former head chef of the Michelin-starred Sorrel in Dorking, is to open the Town House restaurant with rooms in Arundel next month with his wife Jennifer.

Launching on 13 May, the boutique retreat marks the pair’s first hospitality project together. They first met while working at the Spread Eagle hotel in Midhurst, 15 years ago.

The Town House resides in a restored Georgian building near Arundel Castle and features a statement 16th-century ceiling, commissioned in Florence.

It will offer a hyper-seasonal, seven-course tasting menu celebrating everything “foraged, farmed and fished”, including dishes such as Sussex Dayboat Mosaic (ballotine of seaweed-marinated cured dayboat fish with wasabi and buttermilk sorbet, BBQ mackerel dashi, aloe vera and finger lime) and Creedy Carver Duck (glazed with smoked hay honey, served with a fermented rhubarb and cucumber condiment, black pudding royale, shiso, and spiced duck sauce spiked with sweet cicely).

The property also features four guest bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, views of Arundel Castle and, in the case of the master bedroom, a four-poster bed.

Matthew said: “Our ethos is not simply about a meal or a stay. We want to create memories through thoughtful, well-executed dishes and warm, heartfelt hospitality. By offering rooms on-site, we invite our guests to fully immerse in an experience—to linger over a final glass of wine, unhurried, unperturbed.”
