Michael Caines to take over The Cove at Maenporth Cornwall

Renowned local Celebrity Chef Michael Caines is delighted to announce the acquisition of Cornwall based beach front restaurant; The Cove at Maenporth.
The restaurant is located just outside of Falmouth, South Cornwall, England and aptly named ‘The Cove’ due to its location nestled just above the golden sandy beach, with uninterrupted views across Falmouth Bay and towards Pendennis Castle and the lighthouse on St Anthony Head.
Michael is delighted to be launching his first venture across the Cornish border in March following the restaurant’s annual closure in which time a light refurbishment will be undertaken with the main focus on the kitchen.

The restaurant has been owned and operated by Arty Williams and Annette Rickard for the past 17 years who have firmly put The Cove restaurant on the map.
Arty and Annette say, “Many great friends have been made through The Cove & many happy occasions celebrated. We would like to express our sincerest thanks to all of our customers & friends throughout the years, for their support & for creating a catalogue of amazing memories that we will take forward with us.

Our particular thanks goes to our incredible team – we’ve had such a great time working with you all. We are now scheduling a little time to ourselves, both in our home town of Falmouth & overseas.
We offer our very best wishes to Michael Caines, The Cove & all associated endeavours at this exceptionally exciting time.”
Michael has long held a passion for South-West produce from Devon and Cornwall, advocating many of the local suppliers through his seasonal menus including Cornish duck and fantastic seafood sourced from the coast of Cornwall, many of which feature in his famed tasting menus at the Michelin starred Lympstone Manor Hotel.

Lympstone Manor Hotel, Devon is a realisation of a dream, opening in 2017 to much critical acclaim, it continues to develop at pace with exciting plans for 2020, to be announced shortly.

Michael aims for The Cove at Maenporth to continue to be well renowned amongst the local community and highlighting the regions very best produce, standing by his ethos of local and seasonal produce.

The restaurant will offer a relaxed and informal approach to dining, serving morning coffee, lunch, afternoon snacks and dinner with menus designed to attract families, locals and holiday makers visiting this beautiful area and whilst championing the best of the Cornish Produce.

The menu will feature both a brasserie style à la carte menu and a tasting menu which will feature some of Michael’s signature dishes for a gourmet experience.
“I am delighted to be able to take on the restaurant and work with the dedicated team to continue to champion the best of Cornish produce in this informal and beautiful setting. We wish Arty and Annette all the best for the future and thank them for entrusting this fantastic property to us.“

During the closing period, the current team at The Cove will be heading to Lympstone Manor to understand and hone their craft in the anticipation of a new style of service and cuisine on offer this summer, with reservation details launched in late February.

The Caines collection now comprises of Lympstone Manor Hotel, The Cove Maenporth, a consultancy at Kentisbury Grange Hotel - the Coach House by Michael Caines and his newest venture in Exmouth launching this Summer.
