ORGANIC GREEN ASPARAGUS!

Born out of two family-owned farming businesses (M.F. Martin Ltd. and Bedlam Farms) have been leading the way in Cambridgeshire Fens farming for four generations. In 2006, Clive Martin decided to convert a third of the farm to produce organic vegetables exclusively, beginning with organic asparagus, and has since expanded and developed a wide range of organic vegetables.

Bedlam Farms asparagus heralds the start of summer. Although they’re known to be notoriously difficult to grow organically, Clive and his team manage to keep the distubance of the soil to a minimum by growing a large area of perennials (Asparagus, Artichokes and Rhubarb), so a lot of land experiences very low tillage compared to annual crops which are ploughed each year.

The crop is in the ground for 2 years before it is harvested which will then last another 8 to 10 years!
