A celebrated star of the North West's culinary landscape, Hrishikesh Desai's journey to gastronomic brilliance began with humble roots in India, where he cultivated a deep appreciation for the vibrant flavours and rich traditions of Indian cuisine.

Named after the ancient tree that stands in front of the restaurant, Cedar Tree offers Indian-influenced cooking in the form of a generous tasting menu or an à la carte showcasing British produce enhanced by skilful spicing. Thanks to Hrishikesh's creative approach, the restaurant was awarded one Michelin star at the Michelin Guide for UK and Ireland 2024.

BIOGRAPHY

Hrishikesh's journey is marked by prestigious accolades, including winning the Roux Scholarship in 2009 and showcasing his talents in various Michelin-starred kitchens. Rising to prominence as a finalist on the BBC's Great British Menu, he has solidified his status as one of the country's most celebrated culinary talents. Just within 16 months overseeing the acclaimed restaurants HRiSHi, Gilpin Spice, and Gilpin Grill at Gilpin Hotel and Lake House, he earned a host of AA Rosettes and a Michelin star.

Drawn by the allure of Farlam Hall, Hrishikesh shares "I fell in love with Farlam Hall the moment I arrived, and I want as many people as possible to share that feeling. It’s a truly special place, steeped in history and understated elegance. I can’t wait to welcome guests to become part of our story."
