Sally is the head chef at the Michelin-starred Harwood Arms in London, which is renowned for fantastic game meat and seasonal produce. She is also married to Matt Abé who is chef de cuisine at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay which means they hold four Michelin stars between them!

Nestled away in the bustling back streets of Fulham, the Harwood offers award-winning food and wine in a trendy but relaxed setting. The team which is run by Brett Graham (who is also chef-patron of The Ledbury) and Mike Robinson with head chef Sally Abe leading the brigade in the kitchen.

Provenance is a huge contributing factor to the success of the Harwood who have developed relationships with the best suppliers in the business to keep the consistency of quality.

Sally and the team at the Harwood Arms pride themselves on using the best of British produce with a focus on game and wild food.

As well as having the honour of being the only Michelin-starred pub in London, the Harwood Arms was also crowned London’s best gastropub at the Top 50 Gastropubs 2017 awards. The Harwood’s origins as a pub date as far back as 1840.

The Harwood Arms offers a set-priced menu for lunch and dinner, priced at £39.50 for two-course and £48.50 for three courses.

From Tuesday to Friday at Lunchtime (excluding December and all Bank Holidays), we also offer our daily starter, main course and dessert from our blackboard, priced at two courses for £24.50 and three courses for £29.50.


Expect to find an array of home-grown vegetables throughout the menu such as of heritage tomatoes, beans and courgettes which have been cultivated from their rooftop vegetable garden.

Training and work

Sally is originally from Mansfield and moved to London aged 20 to be where "the exciting things in food were happening".

Educated at Sheffield Hallam, Sally completed her Higher National Diploma, Hospitality Business Management with Culinary Arts in 2007 and her placement was at the Savoy when it was ran by Gordon Ramsay. When it closed for a refurb in 2007 she moved over to Claridges with Gordon.

Following her spell at Claridges, Sally spent over 5 years as sous chef at The Ledbury at Notting Hill working under Brett Graham who is now a director at The Harwood Arms.

She wanted a change after The Ledbury and got a job as a writer at Great British Chefs, being able to write about food was an exciting change for her.

When Phil Howard was opening Elystan Street she contacted Brett (Graham) and said she’d be interested in working there as she had a lot of respect for Phil. She started as sous chef there from when it opened until February 2017 and then the job at The Harwood Arms came along and Brett stole her back!

Sally was one of 40 semi-finalists who were in the running to win National Chef of the Year (NCOTY) in 2017.
