It's not always easy being a chef.

Sometimes, you need reminding why you didn't choose to work a cushty nine-to-five job with free weekends and a considerably lower chance of sustaining a serious injury at work.

Here are 10 things to cheer you up if you're having a bad day:

1 -You might have to wear chef whites, but at least you don’t have to wear a suit and tie to work

2- You probably don't have much of a social life outside of work, but you understand camaraderie better than anyone

3 -If a zombie apocalypse came about, at least you’ll have the knife skills to deal with it. And your knives would be sharp, very sharp

4 - You might not have a research qualification, but as a chef, you will never stop learning

5 - You'll probably earn a pittance for most of your life, but you’ll eat in more great restaurants than well-off people ever do

6 - You might have to work long hours and accept that burns, cuts, and various aches and pains are an inevitable part of your job, but so is tasting delicious food

7 - You may have developed mild (or acute)  OCD, but you’re more efficient and technically-minded than most

8 - The requirements of your job might be high, but you’re unlikely to ever get turned down for having tattoos

9 - You might not ever have enough holiday to make it any further than a cabin on a beach in Scarborough, but your knowledge of world cuisine will be excellent
