USA Michelin Guide 2025: New stars and key downgrades confirmed
The Michelin Guide has confirmed the 2025 results for several United States regions, with major developments announced.
Results are now in across New York, Chicago, Washington, D.C., Boston, Philadelphia, the American South, Colorado, Texas and California, while remaining US regions will be announced later in the year according to Michelin’s rolling national schedule.
Three long-standing three-star restaurants lose top rating
Chicago’s Alinea, New York’s Masa and Virginia’s The Inn at Little Washington have all been downgraded from three stars to two in the 2025 cycle.

Sushi Sho becomes the only new three-star restaurant
In New York, Sushi Sho has been promoted to three stars, becoming the only restaurant elevated to the highest category in the 2025 results announced so far.

New one-star entries across several cities
New York gained four new one-star restaurants: Bridges, Muku, Huso and Yamada.
Chicago’s Feld received one star along with a green star for sustainability.
Philadelphia and Boston appeared in the Michelin star listings for the first time.
Philadelphia saw Friday Saturday Sunday, Provenance and Her Place Supper Club receive stars, while Boston’s Three 1 One also earned one star.

South receives its first Michelin stars
The inaugural Michelin Guide American South awarded stars across Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Georgia.
Ten restaurants were given one star, and Emeril’s received two stars.
Colorado, Texas and California updates confirmed
Michelin has also published its 2025 updates for Colorado, Texas and California.
Texas added several new one-star restaurants, while California’s 2025 results were released earlier in the cycle.
A defining year for US Michelin stars
The 2025 results show a changing landscape as long-established three-star restaurants lose their standing while new regions enter the guide for the first time.
Michelin’s expansion, particularly into the American South, suggests a broader and more diverse picture of dining across the United States.
Upon the latest selection announcement in Philadelphia, Gwendal Poullenec, international director of the Michelin Guides, said: "This year marks a momentous occasion for the Northeast Cities to come together and celebrate the exceptional talent across the restaurant communities in these five cities.
"We are thrilled to celebrate the first-ever selections in both Boston and Philadelphia and welcome several new restaurants into the Michelin Star family.
"Our anonymous Inspectors were able to witness and taste the passion these industry professionals brought to the table. Congratulations to all the chefs and restaurant teams honoured."
