Craft Guild of Chefs announces shortlist for 25th annual awards

The Craft Guild of Chefs have announced the shortlist for their prestigious annual awards, taking place on Monday 4th June at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London. This year the guild will celebrate their 25th annual awards, celebrating key figures in the industry for their culinary talent and skills.

Finalists include a variety of influential people who have been selected for representing excellence in their category.

Andrew Bennett, Chair of the Craft Guild of Chefs comments: “Congratulations to all finalists and many thanks to all of the nominations that we have received. It is very difficult to chose from many talented people in the industry. I wish everyone the best of luck.”

This is the last week to cast votes for the People’s Choice award. This is open to chefs from any part of the hospitality and catering industry. The award celebrates unsung heroes who have made an outstanding contribution to the sector and had a big impact on colleagues.

The finalists for this award are:
• Amanda Afiya, former editor of The Caterer
• Stephen Frost, divisional executive chef for Sodexo Sports and Leisure
• Adrian Silaghi, head chef and catering manager at Princess Christian Care Centre (Nellsar Care Homes)
• Jozef Youssef, founder of Kitchen Theory (a gastrophysics research and design studio)

Voting is open until 20th April 2018. To vote and for more information about each nominee, visit:

Small Contribution. Big Impact.

The Staff Canteen has always been more than a website—it’s a community, built by and for hospitality. We share the wins, the challenges, the graft, and the inspiration that keeps kitchens alive.

We believe in staying open to everyone, but creating this content takes real resources. If you’ve ever found value here—whether it’s a recipe, an interview, or a laugh when you needed it most—consider giving just £3 to keep it going.

A little from you keeps this space free for all. Let’s keep lifting the industry, together.
