Mark Hix announces Kitchen Library dinner series for 2017

Chef Mark Hix MBE has announced an impressive series of intimate suppers to be held throughout the year at his Kitchen Library, Shoreditch. Bringing together Mark’s friends from the worlds of art, food and entertainment, the 2017 events feature a stellar lineup.
These one-off dinners invite Mark’s friends to join him for an evening of great food, company and conversation. With only 12 seats around the kitchen bar, places are very limited, the result is an atmosphere reflective more of a dinner party than a formal sit down restaurant event.
Launching in late March, the series kicks off with a dinner by Mitch Tonks, owner of Rockfish in Exmouth and co-creator of Tonnix wine. Cinnamon Kitchen chef and fellow restaurateur Vivek Singh visits in May followed in June by chef and fellow MBE holder Romy Gill. Financial Times columnist and author of ‘Knife’ Tim Hayward joins Mark behind the stoves in July for what promises to be a show of blade skills. In Autumn chef Jose Pizarro will bring his thrilling take on Catalonian cuisine and the series finishes on a high note in November with a decadent Caviar dinner with Sergei Mottra, producer of sustainable Caviar. Mark has also planned seasonal, ingredient-led dinners with special guests to be announced later in the year.
At each dinner, Mark and his guest cook and serve four courses, with wines and cocktails to match. Also present at each dinner will be Dustin Macmillan, HIX Bar brand manager, who will be working with each of the guest chefs to devise punchy concoctions and tasty snacks to whet the appetite. As a memento, all guests will receive a gift bag at the end of the night containing signed cookbooks from Mark or his guest chef.
Mark says: ‘I’m looking forward to cooking alongside these fantastic chefs, many of whom are also close friends. I wanted to highlight a diverse rang of cuisines whilst also championing the best of British produce and drinks and it’s great to be able to share the stage with some of the best this country has to offer.’
