TEM BAN BRINGS FRESH TAKE ON TRADITIONAL THAI FOOD TO THE KING & CO

Rising star Tem Ban is bringing their fresh take on traditional Thai cooking to popular independent Clapham pub The King & Co this August and September, in their first extended kitchen residency. Launching on Monday 1st August and running daily for two months, the new pub popup will showcase an array of sensational Southeast Asian small and large plates ideal for sharing, plus daily specials and original weekend brunch dishes.

Visitors to Tem Ban’s kitchen takeover at The King & Co can choose from a regularly-rotating menu that combines the vibrancy of traditional Thai ingredients with modern cooking techniques. Designed to share so that everyone can experience a range of complimentary flavours, Tem Ban’s renowned snacks and small plates like addictive Crispy Pigs Ears with sour burnt chilli sauce will be offered alongside mouth-watering new delights such as rich Beef La Lot and rustic Red Curry Fish Cakes. All dishes will be prepared using great quality British produce, with locally sourced Whole Thai Steamed Fish and deep bowls of Stir Fried Shellfish changing daily.

Those looking for a sweet finish to their Southeast Asian supper are sure to be satisfied by Tem Ban’s irresistible homemade Pandan Ice Cream drizzled with coconut and palm sugar caramel. During the daytime at weekends, Tem Ban will serve up their unique Thai twist on brunch favourites including Banana Roti with condensed milk, and refreshing seasonal Fruit Salad with lemongrass infused syrup and watermelon granita. Hailed as one of Evening Standard’s top 10 boozy brunches in London, diners can enjoy Tem Ban’s all-day breakfast offering accompanied by The King & Co’s bottomless spicy Bloody Marys, refreshing Cava and selected cask ale for an amazing value £25 meal package.

Tem Ban’s founder and head chef Craig Broadhurst has spent nearly a decade honing his culinary expertise and five years focusing his understanding of Thai cuisine. Craig’s passion for Thai food was awakened training under industry masters at The Begging Bowl in Peckham, and developed further whilst working at Andy Oliver’s Thai Grill at Bar Story, plus as a ten month stint as Sous Chef at Smoking Goat perfecting the art of smoked meat with Thai flavours. Following on from Tem Ban’s sell-out successful launch dinners at The Lido Cafe in nearby Herne Hill and a series of short popup stints around South London, Craig is now bringing his fresh take on traditional Thai food to The King & Co for Tem Ban’s first extended pub residency.

Since its launch in September 2014, The King & Co has rapidly earned a reputation as a local pub with a difference. Anthony Gunson and his team are committed to providing a carefully-curated lineup of interesting craft beers, wines and spirits, plus friendly and attentive service, in their relaxed welcoming space just moments away from the busy main drag of Clapham Common. Tem Ban’s residency is the latest in The King & Co’s series of acclaimed kitchen collaborations with prominent London popup chefs and streetfood traders (including Allihopa, The Bell & Brisket, Fowl Mouths, and Donostia Social Club), which allows pub-goers the opportunity to experience a regularly-changing spread of remarkable food unlike anything else in the area.
