The Humble Pie

Coup de pates has been a principal supplier in France for half a century and has now landed in the UK.

With a network of highly-skilled in-house development chefs and state of the art kitchens, Coup de pates utilises a combination of skilled craftsmanship, best quality ingredients, and unique ‘savoir-faire’ to deliver consistently delicious results for their customers.

In recent years, UK consumers have adopted a ‘back to basics’ approach in their culinary choices, demonstrated by modernised classics voted as a ‘Hot Trend’* for 2015. The Coup de pates new range of Gourmet pies is a great example of a contemporary approach to classic menu options.

An introduction to the products with Nim Sanotra and Jamie Winwood (Coup de pate development chefs):
Nim: “Our new Gourmet pies are a stylish extension to our already successful premium pie range. They are also a great example of our contemporary focus on ‘Gourmetification’ (referring to a food product that has been altered to be more sophisticated, unique, or indulgent) product development.”

There are five new gourmet pies within the range. Three are substantially deep filled, 200g+ portions, with hearty traditional flavours, each encased in tasty shortcrust pastry. The Steak and Stout pie includes sizable, succulent chunks of premium steak and a sumptuous blend of locally sourced ale and stout
gravy, topped with black pepper. The hearty Chicken and Wiltshire Ham pie, features an exquisite white veloute with confit leeks, enrobing the tender chicken, and is finished with a thyme garnish. In addition, the vegetarian option is a medley of juicy roasted Mediterranean vegetables, swathed in a white veloute, topped with a stunning pumpkin and sunflower seed feta crumble.

The two smaller (170g) pies use firm short crust pastry with a delicate bite, plus have a stunning rustic hand-crafted look with semi-open tops. The Chicken Curry pie includes tender chunks of succulent chicken and country vegetables, in a premium, traditional, “chip shop curry”. The tasty vegetarian option features sweet, tangy, sun-dried tomatoes with a smooth, crumbly, goat’s cheese.
