Can you believe that it's October already? It's been a pretty exciting month of awards including the Michelin Guide UK and Ireland 2019 - you can find out more about the chefs at the newly starred restaurants here

Top recipe pick of the month

Poor Man's Goose by chef Tom Brown - Great British Menu 2018 Banquet winner recipe

The most popular recipe this month was "Poor Man's Goose" - Tom Brown's main course from this year's Great British Menu Banquet. Inspired by a recipe from the NHS archives, Tom's winning dish was a whole roasted duck with potato croquette and a duck sausage.

Michelin Guide Uk and Ireland 2019 - full list of starred restaurants including deletions

The most read article on The Staff Canteen this month (no surprise!) was the Michelin Guide UK and Ireland 2019 full list (including deletions). There were 21 new one Michelin starred restaurants and three new two stars: Core by Clare Smyth, Kitchen Table at Bubbledogs and Moor Hall. Many in the industry were shocked to discover that there were no new three star restaurants in this year's guide.

Our Chef Plus Member of the Month for September is Ramon Tomasini. Ramon is the executive chef at the F&D Kitchen and Bar in Lake Mary, Florida. He cooks American food using the freshest produce and taking inspiration from his Puerto Rican heritage. 

For his prizes, Ramon won  a copy of Rogan: The Cookbook by Simon Rogan and The Staff Canteen 10th Anniversary mug.
