Sheffield, UK – Global leader in high speed ovens, Merrychef is expanding its UK manufacturing facility to meet the significant increase in demand it has experienced. Following successful launches of new models including the conneX® range, the Sheffield based company has broken ground on an extension to its current site to enable greater manufacturing capacity and warehousing space.
The factory extension commenced on March 17th, 2025, with building starting in May and the project due to be completed by December 2025.
Colin Lacey, Merrychef Managing Director, highlights the key benefits of the expansion,
“The last few years has seen incredible growth for Merrychef, in part due to the launch of our innovative conneX® range of high speed ovens. The new factory extension adds 42,700 sq. ft. and will increase production capacity, double our warehousing space, and allow us to meet growing demand in both the UK and international markets. Sheffield is the home of Merrychef and our main manufacturing centre; the site expansion will eventually create up to 80 new positions, and we are delighted to be able to further support the local Sheffield economy.”
As part of the expansion, Merrychef will continue to incorporate state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies leading to improvements in inventory management and supply chain efficiency.
Merrychef has worked closely with experts and completed Impact Assessment Monitoring, biodiversity protection measures, waste management studies, energy efficiency assessments including water conservation and undertaken Community Engagement consultations to ensure that the extension minimises its impact on the surrounding environment. The company has also implemented measures to minimise noise following build completion.
In line with modern building management, the new extension puts sustainability at the forefront as Merrychef aims to reduce environmental impact by using eco-friendly materials and energy-efficient building techniques. The facility will incorporate renewable energy sources from solar to water-harvesting technologies, together with improved insulation to reduce energy consumption, carbon emissions and noise pollution.
Colin Lacey concludes,
“The extension of our business marks a significant milestone in our company’s history, and the increased production, warehousing and job creation highlights our commitment to our business, our team and the local community, as we continue to lead the market in high speed oven technology.”
