When Manchester House opens for service on the 17th of September it will be vying to fill a very large gap in the Manchester culinary repertoire by aiming to gain the cities first Michelin star. As Manchester has been widely regarded as the UK’s second city, the lack of Michelin quality fine dining has not gone unnoticed with many wondering why such a cultural centre of the arts and entertainment has failed to attract the very best in the industry. This is something that Aiden Byrne, in collaboration with Living Ventures, is hoping to put right by creating a menu which brings together beautiful ingredients in ways that people may not normally expect.

It does however, seem that Manchester House will have some serious competition on its hands in the form of the newly revamped The French restaurant at the Midland Hotel. With a new menu devised by the highly successful and increasingly popular Simon Rogan, The French will be aiming to make an impact on the local food scene too. Such is the level of the anticipated rivalry between the two restaurants, the BBC will be featuring them both in their new Restaurant Wars series. Competition can only ever be good for the city itself which will hopefully re-establish its culinary credentials with the existence of both of these restaurants.
The range of chef clothing that Oliver Harvey will be supplying consists of our Dorset and Oxford Chef jackets, our Durham Chef Trousers and a bespoke apron designed specifically for Manchester House. We love to be associated with such ambitious local restaurants and are proud to be named suppliers as we put the same level of detail and quality into our clothing as the chefs put into their food. All of the Oliver Harvey range is hand made in the south of Manchester which means the city is close to our hearts and we wish both restaurants the very best of luck in bringing home the very first Michelin star for the city.
