Jack Bond is the head chef of one Michelin-starred The Cottage In The Wood in the Lake District.
Biography
Jack has worked as a professional chef for over 16 years, gaining expertise at all levels from contract catering, to leading kitchens such as three Michelin starred Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, Claridges and The Berkeley. He sees the most inspiring moment of his career so far as working at David Humm’s Eleven Madison Park in New York when they won the number one spot at the 50 World’s Best Restaurants.
Having joined The Cottage in the Wood in January 2024, Jack and his wife Beth purchased the property in July 2024 from Liam and Kath Berney, who retired after 22 years at The Cottage in the Wood.
The Cottage in the Wood
The Cottage in the Wood was originally a 17th-century coaching inn, it was transformed by the Berneys into a restaurant with rooms in 2002.
It earned its Michelin star in 2019 under chef Ben Wilkinson and has successfully retained it through various chefs since.
Nestled in the Lake District, The Cottage in the Wood boasts a rich culinary landscape featuring Herdwick hogget from the surrounding fells, freshly caught fish and shellfish from West Coast harbours, and a variety of wild ingredients. The restaurant is in the heart of Whinlatter Forest, between Keswick and Cockermouth.
